This was my second season hunting ol' Mr. Longbeard. I was hunting with my Mossberg 835 and on my third set up of the morning, I used the cut and run tactic. I have never heard a Tom gobble in the woods until this day. I had walked about 50 yards down a dim road using my box call that I built myself.
Well, we didn’t get anything the first day of youth weekend. We were set up on my grandpa’s (Ron Ditch’s) property in one of his tents in Henderson Harbor NY. My dad (Mark Ditch) had bought me the 20 gauge, the bipod, the extra full turkey choke, the folding chair that swivels, and the Tru Glo sight - everything I needed. My cousin, Matt, came with me, and my dad, of course. We got up at O’dark-thirty in the morning, had a bagel, and Matt picked us up in his truck at five.
18 lbs. 15 oz. 10 1/4 inch beard! Taken around 11:40 on 5/2/09. I had 4 gobblers out in front of me all around the same size. He just happened to be the closest, at about 20 yards.
I killed this turkey in Louisiana on March 22, 2008 with a Mossberg 835 12 gauge. He is #4 in our state record book, and I am the only female in the top 100. I shot him at about 40 yards and he dropped in his tracks. I love this gun!
At 9:30 am this gobbler came walking up a hill towards me, along with several other birds. I took the shot at around 35 yards. He weighed 20 lbs. 4 oz., had a 9" beard and 1" spurs. This is my largest Tom to date and I love using my Mossberg! Thanks for making a great gun!!
Shelby's first turkey @ 6:50 AM. 4/12/08 (Missouri Youth Season.) She is 11. I was 11 when I shot my first turkey that my dad called in! I now know how much my dad enjoyed my first turkey.
The spring gobbler '08 picture is of a 4 year old gobbler taken in Mecklenburg County, VA using a Mossberg 835 shotgun. The gobbler was about 20 steps away when killed, after working him for two mornings.
Setup at first light and within a short time I looked over and he just appeared out of nowhere. Got the gun up and took him in one shot at 20yds.
Garrett took his first turkey at the age of three while hunting with his dad and his dad's friend at 14 steps. Garrett rested the Super Bantam™ 20 Ga. on shooting sticks and sent the 2 3/4 #6 shot right to the vitals. The turkey was 22 1/2 lbs., 11 1/4 in. beard, and 1 3/8 in. spurs!
I shot this deer with my Mossberg 500® in Bureau County, Il on the second day of the first shotgun season. He grossed 164 green. This was, by far, the biggest deer I've ever shot. He dressed at about 196 lbs.
Cyndi's first Merriam turkey killed in Wyoming with a Mossberg 935!
The slightly dazed look on my face comes from sleep deprivation! I've been getting up every morning between 4:00 and 4:30 to try and get this bird. He weighed 20 pounds, had a 10 inch beard, and 1 1/2 inch spurs, the longest of any bird that I've taken. The fiber optics work great when it's foggy!
Oakland County, MI - I was hunting Michigan State Land behind my friends house April 26, 2008. After an unsuccessful morning, I headed back out to move my blind to a better spot. Just after moving my blind...this tom appears. I took aim... and harvested my first turkey on my first turkey hunt. Thank you Mossberg for making such a reliable shotgun!
Bradford County, PA - T.J. used his new Mossberg Super Bantam 20ga. turkey gun. This was T.J.'s first turkey hunt. With the design and weight of this gun, T.J. was able to hold it in a shooting position for 20 minutes while the bird was in his sights. He made a great shot, dropping the bird with the first shot at 25 yards. Thanks to Mossberg for building a super youth model shotgun. Dad.
Paso Robles, CA - Looking through the spotting scope I counted 9 hogs. I then descended down the hill towards them. It was very slow and difficult process. Every time I was in a good pattern the wind would shift on me. Finally, I was within a couple hundred yards. I then dropped down and goat crawled the last fifty yards. Right when I came over the hill, they couldn't have been more that 100 yards out from me. Right away I brought my rifle up and shot a nice pig.
Four gobblers came silently into our cedar tree setup. When one seperated, I dropped him. The others came back to dad's calls. Dad shot one. One jumped on dad's bird pecking at him! I aimed and finished our triple! We were jumping around like we won the World Series!
This bird eluded turkey hunters for five years. I got permission to hunt, only because the landowner was certain that no one would get him. Well, as you can see, I ended that story. Well . . . they call me "Coop" when they ain't mad at me.
2005 was my first year of deer hunting. When it was time to buy a rifle, I decided to buy a Mossberg 100 ATR™ .270. On the second day of gun season, I shot this nice 8 pointer. Now I am looking forward to the 2006 season, where I plan on using my new 100 ATR™ .308. Thank you Mossberg for making a quality rifle at an affordable price.
Fisher took this bird 5-10-09 Mothers Day before 6 am.
Turkey
Weighed 21 1/2 lbs.
15/16 inch spurs
9.5 inch beard
shot in South eastern MN
Gun mossberg 500 super bantam 20 GA, Mossberg factory turkey choke with red dot scope.
Remington Hevishot #6 3 inch
11.5 yard shot
We saw the turkey at about 500 yards with the binoculars coming our direction. It stopped about 200 yds out to peck on the field. I called again and I ran all the way into the decoys. Fisher got his Mossberg Super Bantam ready for the shot as it was running in. It stalled in front of the decoy (1-2 feet) for about 10 seconds the it jumped on the decoy and started spurring it. after 30-45 seconds Fisher squeezed the trigger and game over. It was a great father son hunting experience!
My very first whitetail deer kill! I started hunting with my husband in 2003 and killed this buck during the 2004 Illinois Firearm Season.
This 9 point deer was taken with my 835® slug barrel with iron sights at just over 80 yards. One shot - clean kill. The 835® is a great shotgun!
Here is my first Illinois buck. This nice eight pointer was chasing some hot does opening morning after having him wind me the night before while I was out with my bow and arrow. I shot him at 85 yards with my Mossberg® 9200®. Great gun and what a great deer!
I took this Pennsylvania tom using my trusty Mossberg 500. I harvested him shortly after coming off the roost. He responded to my first call and I gave a few more clucks. That’s all it took and he came storming in and presented a nice 30 yard shot. Once again my Mossberg comes through. I love my gun so much, I am looking into purchasing a Mossberg 935, synthetic 3 1/2" Mag.
Twenty years ago when my son, CXhris, needed his first gun, I chose the model 500® for him becasuse of it's all around versatility. We've had so many hunts, so many memories, and a gun that has never failed him. Thanks Mossberg!
Indiana Fountain, CO - I was on my way to the woods, and did not make it to my treestand when I saw this buck and two does. I backed up, sat down on my hunting bucket, and waited for my shot. I made a 120 yard shot with my Mossberg® 500® and now I have this trophy buck on the wall!
I have always hunted with Mossberg shotguns, and would probably not even consider anything else for shotguns. The deer I killed was in Jo Daviess County, Illinois and I shot it with my Mossberg 835®, synthethic with rifled barrel. I had seen probably five big bucks that make this one look like a spiker, but never got a clear shot.On the last day of our 1st shotgun season he stepped out 130 yards and I dropped him with one shot.
Mayville, MI - I've been hunting this particular piece of property for over ten years. I'm twenty five. This is my first buck. At about 5:00 pm he came out of the corn broadside, right in front of me. I'm glad I was finally able to use this Mossberg to it's full ability.
It was near the end of the 2006 Wisconsin gun deer season and was the first time I had to hunt. 100 yards into the woods, I saw a buck and doe together on the hillside. I raised my Mossberg® 9200® Trophy Slugster, took aim, fired five times, and got both deer. The gun worked perfectly. Thanks Mossberg!
I bought the 535™ as a dedicated turkey gun based on previous experience with Mossberg products. Although this was only my first year as a turkey hunter, the 535™ proved its worth during the fall season when I bagged this Thanksgiving tom turkey! I have the utmost faith in my 535™ and have since purchased a 935™ for waterfowling. I really appreciate your quality American-made products that are both durable and affordable. Keep up the good work!
I was at my great grandma's farm in Genoa City, WI. My dad and I went out on Thursday after school and got two Canada Geese. My dad shot the first one and then we both shot at the second one but it didn't fall until I shot for my second time. That was my first real "kill."
My Mossberg® ATR™ worked flawlessly in dispatching this 800 pound bull elk with one shot at 350 yards. The six point bull walked about 10 feet after being hit! The ATR's accuracy is the best I have ever owned! Thank you Mossberg!
Spencer, NE - This is my first deer with a rifle. I shot it at 100 yards with my new rifle that I won during a Whitetails Unlimited banquet My gun shoots great and I am hooked!
This is my very first deer, an 8 point buck, taken from Pike County, AR. The 100 ATR™ is a great rifle with an even better price. I have had a bad shoulder, but the balance of this gun doesn't have a kick like the rest of the manufacturers' guns. Thanks, Mossberg, for making my first hunt a memory of a lifetime.
What a beautiful day it was to be in the woods on Youth Hunt Day in MD. My son (David) and I headed out early. I served as pack mule, hauling a backpack and a tree stand. David was toting our new Mossberg® 12-gauge rifle-barrel slug gun and had 2 rounds of Remington® Copper Solid 2.75" slugs in his ammo pouch.
Kent County, MD - I took one shot with a 3" Magnum sabot on the first day of the season in November 2005. The buck went less than 10 yards. That Mossberg 20 ga. can drop the big ones!
Coleman, TX - It was 5:35 pm the last day of opening weekend and Tyler’s 13th Birthday. He dropped this White-Tail Buck with one shot from 250 yds off a ridge line down into a clearing of mesquite and cactus, using his birthday present, a Mossberg .270, and a 130 grain round.
Hog Island WMA, Surry, VA - My buddy Steve took me out for my first ever turkey hunt on Spring gobbler opening day in 2005. This was a 37 yard shot, using the factory turkey choke with a 3 1/2" shell #4 shot. What a great gun! The turkey was 23 lbs. with a 6" beard.
Ray Sparrowe, Dan Hovest, Gary Verhoff / Mossberg® 835® Ulti-Mag® 12 Ga. 3 1/2
My buddies and I went turkey hunting the second day of Ohio's spring turkey season. We experienced something we never thought would happen. We parked our vehicles and walked back to our favorite hunting spot. As we were walking back to our spot, we spooked a turkey roosting in a tree. I thought that we had already messed up the hunt for the day.
Pheasant and Guinea Fowl - This was a two day hunt that a number of Americans were invited to. This hunt was located in the Czech Republic.
Last summer both my boys showed interest in hunting and shooting sports, so I purchased a Mossberg Super Bantam™ Youth 20 ga. and they tried their hand at squirrel hunting. They both harvested their first squirrel in 2005 and both enjoy shooting clay birds.
Austin recently completed his hunter safety course and I bought him a Mossberg 500 youth model 20 gauge. After a little practice, I took him out turkey hiunting and he dropped this Colorado Merriams with one shot.
We spotted three birds in a field while driving to another set up - a large Tom and a couple of Jakes. We pulled in by the edge of the field and set up in the woods out of sight, hoping to entice at least one of the Jakes.
North of Olympia, WA - The last three weekends of the season I hunted the Puget Sound and dropped a combined number of 19 birds, including this beautiful Widgeon Drage. I have had my Mossberg for over 10 years and it is the easiest field shotgun I have ever handled.
This is only my second season turkey hunting and I LOVE it. My dad and I went out early on a damp morning hoping to connect. We hunted all morning without hearing a thing. Then, at about 9:45, I noticed the sun starting to break through. I suggested that we set up on the field for an hour or so, in hopes of a turkey wandering to the field. Then, only about 15 minutes later, a
It was opening day and I was always wanting to hunt this bottom overlooking the swamp that runs through the property. I heard what sounded like two bucks fighting off in the distance down in the bottom. I caught a quick movement in the woods and reralized that I had a trophy buck headed my way.
Here is my black bear shot in June 2006 in Manitoba, Canada. One shot with my new 535 ATS™ with a one ounce slug. Gun performed perfectly!
Steve shot this beautiful gobbler on the last afternoon of the winter season for turkey. Steve snuck up and shot it about 55 yards away. All the time that Steve put into patterning his Mossberg this season paid off.
Jackson Corner, PA - I went hunting on the morning of May 5th 2008 to an area that I missed a turkey 3 days before. I went up the side of the mountain to the first bench. I walked to a spot and settled in and started yelping. Nothing answered. I sat there for awhile and when the sun started coming up over the trees, I heard one gobble to my left, but above me. I answered back but he didn't answer. I sat there for about 20 minutes when an owl started hooting.
To everyone at Mossberg, you make the ultimate hunting machine. I shot my first turkey with my 835. I called for what seemed like hours. Finally, two gobblers came within range and I took what looked to be the largest of the two.
My 11 year old son, Cordell, took this bird on April 19, 2008, using a 3" - 6 shot Federal turkey load and a 12 ga. Mossberg 835 Ulti-mag. The shot was 45 yards and the bird dropped in his tracks. The turkey weighed 26.5 lbs, 2 beards, 1- 10", and 1 - 6". The purs were 1 1/8", and 7/8". Thank you for a great, and durable gun.
I harvested this nice gobbler the 2nd week of the 2009 Georgia Spring turkey season. I worked this bird for 2 hours and harvested him @ 12 steps with my 935 g
Grand Slam Turkey. He had 10 1/2 inch beard, 1 1/2 inch spurs, and weighed 22 lbs. This gun throws an awesome pattern with the factory choke.
